    Dear Parents,

The Western Monongalia Area Lions Club knows how important good vision is to everyone, especially students.  A student’s grades can be affected if he or she has poor vision.  Our club will be screening Long Drain students’ vision (visual acuity).  Our club will be conducting these screenings FREE of charge.  The vision screening will take place on October 10, 2019 during school hours.  LIONS is a service organization, and this is one of the many ways we serve the communities.  If you do not wish to have your child screened, please send a note to the school.

(We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month.  Come join us).

  • Dear Long Drain School Parent or Guardian,

Smile Express, the mobile dental office operated by the Monongalia County Health Department, is coming to your child’s school.  For those students who do not see a dentist regularly, Smile Express is excited to be offering dental services.  For your student to participate in this innovative program please complete all forms in this packet and return them to their Homeroom Teacher ASAP.

Your student will receive a dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatment and sealants.  Minor dental procedures such as dental fillings and removal of primary teeth and non-restorable primary teeth will also be offered.  Smile Express will visit Long Drain School this Winter.  The exact date has not been determined.  Parents will be notified when a final date has been set.  This visit will also fulfill the new recommended dental exam for all 2nd and 7th graders.  A letter will be sent home with them indicating the dental services we provided, and any other services recommended.

We are sure your student will enjoy their visit to Smile Express.  This is a fantastic opportunity to provide important dental care to your child without parents having to miss work.  It also reduces the amount of time spent away from the classroom, permitting your child to stay in good standing with their attendance.

We look forward to seeing your child soon!
