Review of LSIC responsibilities.

Title I

Title I information discussed.

Sean Sneddan shared we were a Title 1 school

LSIC

Carla shared the purpose of a LSIC and our purpose.

Test Results / CSI

Jeremy provided an update on test scores.

127-point jump noted.

Discussion of improvement among schools in the state of West Virginia.

Also shared the growth in our SPED population.

Jeremy also said that we still have work to reach the proficiency numbers we would like to see.

Kitchen

Kitchen project/update discussed.

Plan to host a dinner on September 15.

Menu will be Salisbury Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and a Roll

Playground / Bees

Discussion about bees on/around the playground.

Need to determine why the area is attracting bees and address the issue.

There is a possibility that a couple of trees will need to be removed

Playground Benches

Work with Hundred Lumber on an estimate for benches for the school grounds and playground.

Once an estimate is established, open purchases up to the community.

The above games are in the first two rotations of clubs. We are averaging 50-60 kids per night.

Covey Dinner

September 15: Parent and Family Covey night.

Alicia Lett will share The 7 Habits of a Highly Effective Family. Parents will also be given a book that goes along with the presentation.

Special Person Day

October 4: Book Fair / Special Person Day.

Last year had over 100 people.

Theme

U.S. Landmarks

Hallways are decorated around the landmark themes. Teachers are taking their classes around to discuss the information in the hall.

Fall Plant Sale

Delivery scheduled for Monday, September 14th.

Proceeds/items connected to PBIS.

Halloween Week

October 26-30th

It is also red Ribbon Week.

26th- Dress Your Best- Picture Day

27th- Senior Citizen Day

28th- Wear red, white and blue- Strip the School

29th- Pumpkin Drop, Costume Parade, Class Parties

30th- Red Shirt and Pajama Bottoms

Sports / Co-Ops

Sports co-ops discussed.

3 Students are playing football at SLS

Our school is sponsoring an archery team and TSA Team.

Approximately 48 students are interested in participation.

We are cooperating with SLS and Valley High School for the two teams.

PBIS

Activities are set up and flyers are being given to the students.

1st Reward- Pre-K-5 Movies and popcorn in the auditorium, 6-8 Fishing at the Sportmans Club

2nd Reward- Pre-K- 3 Movies in Fairmont and MacDonalds, 4-8 Sledding

3rd- Outdoor Day/ Field Day

Attendance

Strive for 95- Attendance incentive program

1st: 95% attendance — Skating Party

2nd: 95% attendance — Putt Putt in Fairmont at Coal Country

School News

Today was the 1st episode of school news.

Student leaders will lead the events/news.

Links are sent to the classrooms weekly and will be shared on Social Media

Academic Hall of Fame

Banquet on October 15th

Students will be celebrated for academic successes and competition wins

Their names will be placed on the Hall of Fame wall.

Veterans Day Program

Veterans Day program being planned.

8th grade involved.

Grant / Trail

Grant/trail project discussed.

Lisa Kelch wrote a grant to complete the ideas created by our students

Innovation Showcase winners project will be featured on the East/West Rails to Trails

Fishing and wildlife-watching activities discussed.

Plant/wildlife area included in the project.

Need signage for native wildlife and life size silhouettes.

72 species mentioned.

Discussion about expanding the trail toward Burton Clinic.
