It looks like Mrs. Amos’ class had a fun-filled time with their reindeer games, and the addition of Mr. Starkey photobombing the class Grinch picture must have been hilarious! Moments like these are what make school memories so special. It’s great to see the holiday spirit alive and well in the classroom!

Mrs. Ritz’s class celebrated learning about dairy farms and their adopted calf, Dahlia by making butter this morning. They begin with liquid (cream) and shook it until it became a solid (butter). They enjoyed the butter with cornbread, and some kids even tried a sip of buttermilk.

Moments like these remind educators why they do what they do—it’s all about creating joy and unforgettable memories for the students. The excitement and pure happiness in a child’s eyes, whether it’s from spotting a mischievous Grinch or marveling at a gingerbread surprise, are truly priceless.
All was calm in the office ( mostly) the. A student comes running into the office, full of urgency and excitement, shouting at the PRO, “Hurry, the Grinch is destroying everything!” is one for the books. This student drug the PRO to the class and wanted the grinch arrested!!! (Video in our story.)
It’s these imaginative, magical moments that stay with children for years to come—and with the educators who help make them possible. What a heartwarming and memorable day!

Mrs. Ritz’s class wore safety glasses today as they cracked open geodes in socks to contain the crystals. 🔨 🪨 💎

NMS Characters being characters! They are having so much fun with this!

Jeanie Cain and Lisa Jones classes got together and the 4th graders helped the Kindergarten kiddos make snowman traps after reading “How to Catch a Snowman”

As always, it was a joy to watch and listen to these students share their talent with us. Bravo to everyone involved, and thank you to all who came out to support! 🌟👏 #NMSChoir #NMSBand

Fifth grade mentors had SNOW much fun working with second graders to design snowflakes using marshmallows and toothpicks today. ❄️

Fourth graders from Mrs. Cain’s class came to teach Mrs. Carpenters first graders some Christmas origami. They led the first graders step by step through making holiday cards.

Our NMS Girls Basketball Team and friends traded in their jerseys for elf hats this week as they wrapped presents for families in need within our school community. With teamwork, kindness, and holiday spirit, they showed that being a team means more than just playing basketball — it means lifting up others and spreading cheer on and off the court. 🏀⛹️♀️
We are so proud of these amazing student-athletes for giving back and making a difference! Go Team NMS! 💙

Congratulations to Alyssa Kelly! She will be representing New Martinsville School at the 2024-2025 West Virginia All-State Middle School Band. She was selected from over 500 middle school students from all across the state.

Prek students enjoyed a field trip to Stalder's Family Creamery where they practiced their social skills they have learned so far, ate a nice lunch, made an ice cream Christmas ornament, learned about life on a farm, and found items you may see in a grocery store that have dairy in them.

Today Mrs. Bennington’s class were Santa’s elves and made cars. The students had to figure out how to make the wheels move and how to make the cars move without touching them with their hands. The student figured out they could move the cars with balloons and magnets.

Week at a Glance for December 16-20.

A tentative Schedule for Santa's Workshop. This schedule may be adjusted, so that time is allowed for all students regardless of what school activities are occurring this week. Please refer to this as just a guide. Reminder: Please put money in an envelope CLEARLY marked with your child's first and last name.
