Joellen Witschey is the WCTEC Senior of the Week!
At WCTEC, Joellen is enrolled in Grow Your Own, a program designed for students who want to pursue a career in education after graduation.
At her home school of Magnolia High School, Joellen has received the “Outstanding Scholar Award”; was selected to be a member of HOBY Youth; received the “Soaring Eagle” award; and is an academic letterman. Joellen also has previously been selected as a Student of the Month, served as a member of the Prom Committee, and has been both on the Principal’s List and the Honor Roll. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, the Science Honors Society, and is on the Superintendent’s Student Council. Joellen is also taking classes as an early-entrance college student, is a member of Thespian Troupe #531, and is a member of the Rising Phoenix Guild.
After high school, Joellen plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education and will minor in Theatre Arts.

Fourth graders at PCE were engineers in STEAM today as they designed skyscrapers with Keva Planks. The planks were purchased with a grant provided by the Covestro/Westake/Williams Community Advisory Panel! Students have been learning about U.S. Customary and metric systems, how to measure accurately to 1/16,” read a dimensional sketch, and build a paper skimmer from a dimensioned sketch. Later this week students will be recording and plotting data from their skimmers.
