Congratulations to our students that show up everyday to learn!! Attendance matters!!

Mrs. Walker, our school librarian, has a really cool display in the library again this year! Featuring a carnival theme, the display has been in the works since last year. It took her two weeks to put together, with the help of her husband. They both really had fun building it. When asked how it works, she said, "It is imagination powered!" In terms of the student response to the display, Mrs. Walker said that all of the classes really like it, but Pre-K seems to be the most enthusiastic about it. Be sure to check it out!

9th grade students in Mr. Sapp and Mrs. Sapp’s Humanities 9 (World Studies & English 9) classes culminated their first geography and economics unit by creating their own island nations. Students were tasked with using the skills they learned to create a unique country and design a map, including a minimum of five cities and five landforms. Next, students will compete in an economic game to buy, sell, and trade resources with each other, using their knowledge to try to earn the most profit in order to win the game.
Check out some of these student-created maps!

From the Board of Education Office:
🎥 The recordings of last night's Wetzel County Schools Board Meetings are now available on our YouTube channel with higher sound quality. While the livestream went smoothly, we're excited to share an even better audio experience in the posted videos.
Due to a Frontier internet outage, tonight's BOE meeting will be live-streamed using a cell phone. The meetings will be recorded and posted with clearer audio once internet connectivity is restored. We apologize for this inconvenience, but are doing our best to provide live-coverage as well as improved audio at a later time.

Ms. Werkau’s 3rd Grade Class at Short Line School broke out of Camp Emoji’s Escape Room !! Great Job!! 🥳

Yesterday, LDS Kindergarten (Mrs. Tennant) and 2nd Grade (Mrs. Cumberledge) did an experiment with crayons. They wanted to see how quickly they would melt in the hot outdoor weather. Kindergarten attached their crayons to a white sheet of paper, while 2nd grade attached theirs to a black sheet of paper. Kindergarten used only Cayola brand, and 2nd grade used Roseart and Crayola. Kindergarten's crayons didn't melt as much as 2nd grade's. Of the different brands, they discovered that the Roseart crayons melted the fastest. Ultimately, they determined that the color of the paper determined how much light from the sun was absorbed or reflected--white paper reflected the light/heat and the black paper absorbed the light/heat. That's why the crayons on the white paper laster longer! Great job everyone!
