🎨✨ Art I Guest Artist Spotlight! ✨🎨 Our Art I students had the privilege of welcoming another talented guest artist to class today! Sarah Seabrook, owner of Prodigy Dyes, joined us to lead an engaging lesson on the art of tie-dye. 🌈 Students explored the cultural connections behind tie-dye, learned about traditional and modern techniques, heard Sarah’s story of how she discovered her passion for tie-dye, and had the opportunity to see examples of her beautiful work. We are so grateful to Sarah for sharing her knowledge, creativity, and passion with our students! A big thank you to Brian Rogers, “The LEGO Man,” for bringing learning to life! Students explored LEGO history, the science of friction, and math through hands-on building, multiplication, and arrays! Who knew LEGOs could teach us so much?

Our littlest Eagles have been learning so many exciting things lately! From experimenting with volcanic pumpkins to taking a trip to the NMS Circus, there’s never a dull moment! A BIG shoutout to our amazing cafeteria staff for going above and beyond to make lunchtime such a fun experience!

Today in Medical Detectives, we had a special visitor! 🩺 Our very own Nurse Long stopped by to teach our students how to take a manual blood pressure. The students got to learn how to properly use the blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and then practice on each other. It was a fun, hands-on experience that gave them a chance to put what they’ve been learning into practice! A big thank you to Nurse Long for taking the time to come in and share her knowledge with our students! ❤️🩺

Our 3rd grade Eagles had a wonderful time welcoming their parents and families to NMS for our Make It, Take It Day! It was a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on learning and quality time together! We love seeing our families involved in their children’s education! ❤️ A HUGE thank you to our amazing 3rd grade teachers and all the families who joined us to make this day special! Our little Eagles had a HOT time learning about fire safety! 🦅❤️ A HUGE thank you to the New Martinsville Fire Department for visiting NMS and teaching our students important fire safety skills! 👨‍🚒🚒 From trying on firefighter gear to learning how to STOP, DROP, and ROLL, our students had a blast learning lessons that could one day save a life! We especially loved seeing the smiles, excitement, and maybe a few future firefighters in the making! 🧑‍🚒❤️ We are so grateful for our local heroes who not only keep our community safe but also take the time to educate our youngest Eagles! 🔥 Fire safety is COOL, and our firefighters are even COOLER! 🔥 💙💛 Thank you, New Martinsville Fire Department, for making learning so memorable!

We are excited to welcome Jake Pierce of Jake Pierce Ceramics to New Martinsville School to work with our Art I students! Today, Jake introduced students to the pottery wheel by demonstrating how to throw a basic cylinder. Students had the opportunity to watch the process up close and see firsthand the skill, patience, and creativity that goes into working with clay. Starting next week, Jake will return to NMS and work with small groups of students, giving them hands-on instruction and helping them learn how to throw on the wheel themselves! What makes this experience even more special is Jake’s connection to our community. Jake is a former Wetzel County Schools student and a graduate of Paden City High School. He has taken his passion and talent for ceramics and is now using it to give back to the schools and students. We are so grateful that Jake is sharing his knowledge, experience, and love of ceramics with the next generation of young artists. Opportunities like this allow our students to learn from working artists, explore new techniques, and see where their own creativity can take them. Thank you, Jake, for investing in our students and inspiring the next generation of Wetzel County artists!
