6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in Miss Batton's Career Exploration class put their math skills to work in a hands-on way by creating no-sew patchwork quilts! As they designed and assembled their quilts, students applied key math concepts like measuring, calculating area, recognizing patterns, and working with equations to ensure each piece fit together. This project showed them how math isn’t just something you learn in a classroom; it’s a practical skill used in real-world careers like design, manufacturing, and crafting. We love seeing our students build both creativity and confidence while making meaningful connections between math and everyday life!

Upcoming Prek students for the 2026-2027 school year attended the Prek Registration and Activity Day. They completed a variety of take home activities with their grownups. We enjoyed seeing all of their smiling faces and will see them all again in the fall.

Learning to spell was extra fun!. Spelling was a hands-on, sensory experience. This engaging activity gave them a chance to see, say, and write their words in a way that keeps learning exciting and memorable. A little mess, a lot of smiles, and some great spelling practice made for a wonderful day of learning.

New Martinsville School’s TSA traveled to Cedar Lakes for the State Conference this week. After working hard all year on various projects, they are coming home with a lot of hardware! NMS sent 9 students. All 9 placed at least 3rd or better in at least 1 of their competitions this year, and they earned 1st place in 5 of their competitions! Six students punched their ticket to the National TSA Conference in Washington, DC! We are so proud of all them for their hard work and for representing our school so well!! 💙💛 Check out our Facebook page for more pictures.
