🏆🎉 STATE CHAMPIONS! 🎉🏆 We are incredibly proud to announce that our NMS Junior Varsity LifeSmarts Team are the West Virginia State Champions! 👏 These students demonstrated outstanding knowledge, teamwork, and critical thinking as they competed against teams from across the state—and came out on top! Their hard work, preparation, and dedication truly paid off, and they represented New Martinsville School with excellence. 💙⭐ The team will compete nationally on May 6th. Way to go, Eagles! You make us proud! 🦅

🎭✨ A Night at the Museum – 4th Grade Showcase ✨🎭 Our 4th grade students brought history to life this evening during their “Night at the Museum” event! Students researched influential figures, created detailed portraits, and stepped into character—sharing biographies as if they were the person. From start to finish, their hard work, creativity, and confidence truly shined! 👏 We are so proud of the time, effort, and dedication our students put into this project. 👏 Thank you to our amazing teachers for guiding this engaging and meaningful learning experience. 👏 And thank you to our families and community members who came out to support our students! 💙⭐ At NMS, we don’t just learn history—we bring it to life! ⭐💙

“Congratulations to Madelynn Wade and Riley Stackpole on a job well done at the WV All-State Children’s Chorus concert on Friday!” These girls have worked hard on learning their music for several months and practiced for multiple days in Charleston with over 200 other students. We are so proud of you and your hard work.

New Martinsville School would like to recognize our Regional Math Field Day winners! We are incredibly proud of these students and their outstanding accomplishments. Their hard work, dedication, and problem-solving skills truly paid off. A big thank you to all of the teachers who helped prepare students for this competition, and a special thank you to Mrs. Shauna Heil for hosting after-school Math Field Day practices and helping our students sharpen their skills. 💙⭐️ Great job representing NMS! February students of the month were based on their LOVE of learning and always being prepared to learn.

✨📚 Celebrating Black History Month in Miss Batton's 6th Grade ELA Classes! 📚✨ Miss Batton's 6th grade ELA students have been hard at work honoring Black History Month through research, collaboration, and creativity! Each group researched an influential historical figure and worked together to create a collaborative poster showcasing that individual’s life, accomplishments, and impact on history. This project encouraged students to practice close reading, research skills, teamwork, and pride in their learning while deepening their understanding of Black History and its lasting influence. We are so proud of their thoughtful work and meaningful discussions!

4th Grade "Sock Day"

🎉 Mrs. Zwick’s Leader In Me class celebrated Ayla Huggins, who was recently crowned Pre-Teen Miss West Virginia! 👑 Ayla exemplifies Leader In Me qualities, especially Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind and Habit 6: Synergize. She’s worked hard to spread awareness about diabetes and even explained how it affects the body during our celebration. Now, as Pre-Teen Miss West Virginia, she plans to take that mission to an even larger audience. We are so proud of you, Ayla! 💙

Read Across America Week- Cat in the Hat Day.

To celebrate Read Across America Day, Mrs. Blake's 3rd-grade class and Mrs. Standiford's Kindergarten class partnered up for a literacy adventure! After reading 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,' the third graders helped their Kindergarten buddies with a fun writing activity.

Our gym was FULL of laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition tonight at NMS! Families gathered around tables playing everything from logic games and strategy boards. It was incredible to see students teaching their parents the rules, siblings working together, and families simply enjoying time with one another. This is what Title I Family Engagement is all about — learning, connecting, and growing together. 💙 A HUGE thank you to Cynthia Anderson, Shauna Heil, and Christi Work for organizing such an amazing evening for our families. Your hard work and heart for kids truly showed tonight! We are also so grateful for all of our staff members who helped set up, run tables, and make families feel welcome — and to every family who attended and contributed in any way. Your partnership makes our school stronger. NMS families showed up BIG tonight — and we couldn’t be more proud. 🦅💙
