Kudos to our amazing students who earned positive office referrals this month! These students were recognized by teachers for outstanding behavior, kindness, and hard work.

A positive office referral means a trip to the principal's office—but for the BEST reasons!

Let's keep spreading kindness and celebrating excellence together. Congratulations!

October is National Physical Therapy month. The NMS PT staff, Marah Utt (PT) and Jen Rose (PTA), began the month long celebration by reading to Mrs. Shepherd’s class and having a glow dance party with Ms. Tustin’s class.

We are excited to share that New Martinsville School has been selected as one of the five best public schools in the Ohio Valley!
If you would like to show your support for NMS, voting begins October 1 and runs through October 7. You can vote using the link below and learn more about the contest and the other participating schools.
Let’s show everyone what makes New Martinsville School and Wetzel County Schools so special!
Good luck, NMS! We are proud of our students, teachers, staff, and families who make our school community so amazing.
Public schools are where children’s dreams come true!

Our 6th grade classes took a little time yesterday to honor Dolly Parton by sharing some of her books together. 💛 Beyond her legendary music career, Dolly has made an incredible impact by encouraging a love of reading and putting books into the hands of children everywhere. What a wonderful way to celebrate her legacy—through stories, literacy, and time spent reading together! 📖 We loved seeing our teachers sharing these special books and her love for reading with our students. 💙💛 Be Awesome. Be the Difference! 🦅 #NMSEagles #LoveOfReading

💙💛 A HUGE THANK YOU to our local Walmart! 💛💙 We are incredibly grateful to Walmart for their generous donation of school supplies to New Martinsville School! ✏️🖍️📚 These supplies will go directly into the hands of our students and teachers and will make a real difference in our classrooms. We are so fortunate to have community partners who continue to support our Eagles and invest in our students. 🦅 Thank you, Walmart, for helping us Be Awesome. Be the Difference! 💙💛

🎶 Music Came to Life at NMS! 🎻 Students in grades 3–6 enjoyed a special performance today by the talented musical duo Simple Gifts! Students were introduced to a variety of ethnic folk music styles while hearing—and learning about—some unique and fun instruments, including the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, recorder, hammered dulcimer, and bowed psaltery. Some students even had the opportunity to help “Woody” dance to the beat, making the experience even more memorable! 🎵 A special thank you to ArtsLink for bringing these wonderful musicians to NMS and giving our students the opportunity to experience music in such an engaging and interactive way. Also, a special thank you to Crystal Sutton for putting this together for us!! 💙💛 Be Awesome. Be the Difference!

This informational handout will be coming home with your middle school student this week. We had the opportunity to meet members of NAMI, The National Alliance of Mental Illness, and learn about Meghan's Law and Jamie's Law.

ARRRGH, MATEYS! There was a new captain in charge of Kindergarten today… Principal Walton, AKA Captain Eagle! 🦅⚓️ Captain Eagle dropped anchor in Kindergarten and read a pirate tale to our crew of tiny buccaneers. Then things got serious… there was TREASURE to be found! Our little pirates had to use their map-reading skills to follow the clues, navigate the dangerous seas of NMS, and hunt down the hidden loot! Thankfully, no one had to walk the plank, nobody was eaten by a shark, and Captain Eagle managed to keep all the treasure hunters aboard the ship. 😂 These Kindergarten pirates proved that X really does mark the spot… especially when you know how to read a map!
