WVGSA Testing Update
Due to a county-wide unexpected internet outage, WVGSA testing did not take place today. Testing will resume as soon as the issue is resolved.
Thank you to our families for getting students here on time this week—we’ve already completed ELA and Writing!
Parents can view scores in the WVGSA Parent Portal using the code that will be sent to your child’s school email. Don’t panic if scores aren’t showing just yet—they may take a few days to appear.
We appreciate your patience and support!

Our kindergarten students had a fantastic day at Discovery World Museum in Parkersburg! They played, explored, and experimented across three floors of hands-on, STEM-focused exhibits. What a fun and educational adventure!

We are thrilled to announce that Brooklyn Dyer, an 8th grade student at New Martinsville School, has been selected to attend the West Virginia Governor’s Academy this summer—one of the state’s most prestigious academic honors for middle school students. Congratulations!!

Pre-k classes just wrapped up their donation drive benefiting Foster Hope Ohio Valley. Boxes full of backpacks, water bottles, toys, blankets, diapers and hygiene items are waiting to be delivered. They want to thank everyone who helped support their service project by donating!

5th grade is out of the classroom and into the wild! Making memories (and probably noise) at the Wild Things game today—because nothing says education like peanuts, popcorn, and baseball!⚾

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Anita Howell, who has been named Wetzel County’s Teacher of the Year, and Mr. Todd Melott, honored as Wetzel County’s Service Personnel of the Year!
These two outstanding individuals embody the very heart of NMS. They give their best every single day — not for recognition, but simply because they love our students and our school. Their selflessness, dedication, and unwavering support lift our entire community.
Congratulations, Mrs. Howell and Mr. Melott! This recognition is so well-deserved, and we are beyond grateful to have you both as part of the NMS family.

Mrs. Walton gave our PK students an unforgettable experience this week—a chance to see a baby chick that just recently hatched! Their faces lit up with curiosity as they got an up-close look at the fluffy little visitor. The students were so excited, they even came up with names like Bob, Chrysallus, and Sparkles! Moments like these make learning come to life! #eaglementality🦅💙
Storytime with Miss Utt & Molly! Today, kindergartner, Miss Utt, took center stage as she read to her class—and captured the full attention of one very special listener: Molly, our beloved school therapy dog! There’s nothing quite like the magic of a good book and a four-legged friend by your side. Moments like these remind us just how special our school family is! Great job!!! #eaglementality #Nmsproud
