What a festive day at NMS! Our first graders and Kindergartners dazzled us with their Christmas programs, showcasing adorable singing, dancing, and the cutest outfits. Meanwhile, our middle schoolers brought the holiday cheer with exciting Reindeer Games. From all of us at NMS, we extend warm wishes to our families for a very Merry Christmas! A heartfelt thank you to all the staff for your incredible preparations and unwavering commitment to the families of New Martinsville School. Your dedication made today’s celebrations truly special, and we are so grateful for all that you do!!

English Language Learners in Mrs. Caneen's class created presentations on winter holidays. The students then presented their holidays and facilitated an activity to enrich the learning of students in classes around NMS. Students learned about the Winter Solstice (Yule), Las Posadas, Kwanzaa, St. Lucia Day, Hanukkah, and Chinese New Year.

What an exciting day in Mrs. Piekarski's class! 🎄✨ Fourth-grade students worked together to complete a Christmas-themed escape room. It was a fantastic way to combine problem-solving with holiday cheer!

Mrs. Batton’s 2nd grade class teamed up with Miss Batton’s 6th grade English class to dive into a ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas project. Together, they strengthened reading comprehension, expanded vocabulary, and learned the true power of teamwork!

It looks like Mrs. Amos’ class had a fun-filled time with their reindeer games, and the addition of Mr. Starkey photobombing the class Grinch picture must have been hilarious! Moments like these are what make school memories so special. It’s great to see the holiday spirit alive and well in the classroom!

Mrs. Ritz’s class celebrated learning about dairy farms and their adopted calf, Dahlia by making butter this morning. They begin with liquid (cream) and shook it until it became a solid (butter). They enjoyed the butter with cornbread, and some kids even tried a sip of buttermilk.

Moments like these remind educators why they do what they do—it’s all about creating joy and unforgettable memories for the students. The excitement and pure happiness in a child’s eyes, whether it’s from spotting a mischievous Grinch or marveling at a gingerbread surprise, are truly priceless.
All was calm in the office ( mostly) the. A student comes running into the office, full of urgency and excitement, shouting at the PRO, “Hurry, the Grinch is destroying everything!” is one for the books. This student drug the PRO to the class and wanted the grinch arrested!!! (Video in our story.)
It’s these imaginative, magical moments that stay with children for years to come—and with the educators who help make them possible. What a heartwarming and memorable day!

Our NMS Girls Basketball Team and friends traded in their jerseys for elf hats this week as they wrapped presents for families in need within our school community. With teamwork, kindness, and holiday spirit, they showed that being a team means more than just playing basketball — it means lifting up others and spreading cheer on and off the court. 🏀⛹️♀️
We are so proud of these amazing student-athletes for giving back and making a difference! Go Team NMS! 💙
