September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, your child took part in the Heart of Gold program at school. Every gold heart is a student telling a child fighting cancer: we see you, and you are not alone.
It shows that no one is ever too young to make a difference.

Heart of Gold is a student-led fundraiser with a big heart. Here's how it works:
A · Decorate
Every student receives a gold paper heart to decorate with their name, artwork, or a message of hope and encouragement for a child fighting cancer.
B · Donate*
*No donation is required to participate. Every student is welcome to decorate a heart, and every heart belongs on the wall.
Students invite a parent or guardian to make a donation on this page (https://whippediatriccancer.org/heart-of-gold-schools/short-line-school-reader-wv/). One heart. One gift. One act of kindness.
C · Display
Every heart is displayed on the school's Heart of Gold Wall, creating a growing showcase of support, compassion, and encouragement for children in treatments.

Attention Short Line Families. This call is to inform you of two important updates regarding Short Line Sports and Short Line PTO. Tonight at 6:30 PM at the legion fields are the first flag football and cheer practices for kids aged pre-k through 5th grade. If you did not sign your child up prior to today, please bring them this evening to be registered. Also, on Wednesday at 5:00 PM will be the first PTO meeting of the school year. If your child wishes to participate in PTO sports, or you wish to be a member, please plan to attend. K-2 basketball sign ups will start on Wednesday evening as well.

Hello Short Line Families. When waiting at the end of the day in the parent pick-up line, please stay back by the chain link fence. We sometimes have late buses pulling in and they need space. After the first round of buses pull out, one of our staff will signal for you to pull ahead. Thank you for helping us dismiss our students efficiency and safely. Have a great day.
