Mrs. McGinnis' class experienced an unforgettable Fun Friday Field Trip to the Pine Grove Public Library and Mason's Depot in Pine Grove today. The students had an absolutely fantastic time. ❤️🖤🍦











LDS's 5th and 2nd-grade classes utilized 3D pens for creative projects and "chomp" saws to acquire cardboard-cutting techniques.





Today, approximately 40 students from PCHS & MHS toured the Mid-Ohio Valley Technical Center to learn about programs available for the 2025-2026 school year. Students learned about opportunities to become an EMT, Law & Public Safety Careers, Automotive Technicians and Diesel Mechanics. 💚🤍💙💛









This Friday make it a point to stop at the NM City building from 5-7:30 and be inspired by the amazing art our students have been working so hard on. Their skills are exceptionally talented. 💙❤️🖤💚🤍💛🖤💙💛 🖼️

Wetzel County Schools would like to congratulate our winners for the highest attendance during the seventh month of school. Congratulations to Paden City Elementary who led the grade schools with a 91% rate, and to Hundred High School who led the high schools with a 91% rate. Great job!

Happy Pi Day! We all love eating pie, but do you know mathematical Pi? The amazing students of Mrs. LaRue at LDS and Ms. Wildman at VHS just completed a Pi Day breakout challenge, and it was a huge success! They used teamwork, creativity, and their problem-solving skills to solve puzzles, unlock clues, and learn about and celebrate the wonders of Pi. Let's give a big round of applause to these student mathematicians for their incredible effort and enthusiasm! #PiDay #MathIsFun

Gavin Derby's remarkable career at Valley High School has culminated in a historic milestone: breaking the all-time scoring record with 1825 points this season, clipsing the previous mark of 1425. Congratulations! 🖤💛🏀


Today, Wetzel County students showcased their excellence in the regional Social Studies Fair. Kyle Mason, Ariel Hall, and Vince Ebert deserve special recognition for their outstanding achievement, which has earned them a spot at the state level. Additionally, Dillion Utt and Jacob Shepherd demonstrated remarkable talent, securing first and second places in their category.

As a reminder, school will be closed for students on Friday, March 14th, as teachers will be participating in a Professional Learning Day.

Short Line property, including the playground, will not be available for use during this time. There will be a large amount of law enforcement and other first responders in the vicinity of Short Line School, and Route 20 will also be affected in this area. This message will be shared in various forms multiple times over the next few weeks. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to keep our students, staff, and community safe.
