First grade students at Paden City Elementary are studying the Sun, Moon, and the stars as part of their Project Lead the Way Launch class. They constructed paper sundials and placed them outdoors for observation. During the school day, students marked the location of the changing shadows. They learned that early morning fog and clouds blocked the sun from making shadows. Next, students will analyze their data to determine patterns in the Sun’s movement during a day and how daylight changes throughout the year. The ability to recognize patterns is an important scientific skill that researchers use to develop explanations of observations in nature.

Just a friendly reminder regarding our dismissal procedures:
Please wait for the bus or buses to leave before traveling down North Second Avenue. Once the bus passes, please drive to the circle where your child (children) will be directed toward your vehicle. Your number must be visible.
If you need to get out of your car, please park your car in our designated parking spots. Please respect the private property of our school neighbors by not blocking their driveway.
There will be no parking or passing other vehicles in the circle. Student safety is our top priority.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Should you have any questions, please call PCES. Thank you!

Angi’s favorite part of the job is supporting staff, students, and families—and she’s grateful for your patience as she continues to learn and grow in her new position. She is thankful for Mrs. Neff and those who have helped her learn so much in such a short time.
Outside the office, Angi brings her energy and spirit to the sidelines as a cheer coach, inspiring her team with positivity and passion.
Please join us in giving Angi a warm PCES welcome!
