The Cook Center's Newsletter for March. 🍀

Thank you, Mrs. Toppe and members of the 4-H, for addressing the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday evening and sharing how 4-H has impacted their lives and highlighting the enjoyable activities they participate in. 🍀

It was our pleasure to host Weston Kieschnick, author of The Educator's Atlas: Your Roadmap to Engagement, as he presented to all Wetzel County staff a five-point approach to cultivating student engagement that spans the entirety of each class.🍎

March lunch menu. 🍎🍓🍕🥗

Monday proved to be a busy day for Valley High School students, with activities including a volleyball game in PE class, Mrs. Glasscock's class learning about the formation of the moon, Mrs. Porter meeting with her superintendent council, and FFA students curing ham for the Ham and Bacon Show, taking place on March 7th at 5:30 pm at the Mollohan Center. 💛🖤

In Biology, students from MHS have been learning about the cell cycle and its regulation. In alignment with our unit and in honor of Black History Month, students were asked to research Henrietta Lacks and create a poster, presentation, or infographic that detailed her life, the cells that were taken from her without her knowledge, the medical advancements that have been made because of the distribution of her cells, and rights to biological materials. Students did a fantastic job synthesizing information from multiple sources and developing presentations that expanded upon concepts we had learned in class. Thank you, Mrs. Cooper.

Again, THIS IS ONLY A DRILL.

All Wetzel County Schools will be closed today, as continued snowfall during arrival and forecasted snow squalls at dismissal pose safety concerns. We encourage everyone to make the most of this snow day by enjoying time with loved ones and participating in relaxing activities, such as reading with a cup of hot chocolate. ❄️ ☕️
